Marley Coffee is committed to respecting the environment, which is why we only use beans from coffee farms that adhere to strict sustainability ethics. It is the Marley family's hope that the Marley Coffee farm will inspire other Jamaican farmers to join the organic movement, by showing them that sustainable farming can be profitable. And in fact, be more affordable than conventional farming. Our Jamaica Blue Mountain® beans are shade-grown under a canopy of rainforest-preserving trees at an elevation of over 3000 feet, without the use of chemical pesticides, herbicides, fertilizers or other additives. Biodiversity and organic farming methods make for healthier soil, prevent water contamination, provide habitat for dozens of species of migratory birds, and form a critical component of Marley Coffee's exceptional flavor.

Look for the USDA and OCIA Organic seals on the bags of our beans sourced from our committed coffee farm partners around the world. As well find the FLO Fair Trade Certified logo, that ensures farmers receive a fair living wage. Providing a living wage is not only the humane thing to do, it also is one of the critical factors for creating and continuing sustainable farming practices. When farmers become impoverished, they are often left with no choice but to increase yield by using inexpensive, low-quality chemical fertilizers and pesticides. By investing in our farmers' continued well-being, we are also investing in the continued well-being of our farms and our precious trees. Beyond all this, these coffees are certified Kosher and Halal, reflecting the quality and purity of our beans, as well as our adherence to strict manufacturing standards and practices.

One thing a lot of people do not take into consideration when buying products labeled Fair Trade Certified or Certified Organic is that the process of certification can be prohibitively expensive. To be fair to farms of all sizes, Marley Coffee monitors its sources using the highest ethical standard ITAL. In this way, Marley Coffee promotes the sustainable efforts of small farmers in the poorest rural communities.

The "ITAL" seal is how we denote our commitment to these principles. In Rastafarian parlance, the initial syllable of a word is often replaced with the letter "I" as a way to express the self-determination of the human race. Thus, eternity becomes iternity, creation begets iration, and from vital comes ital.
